Avatar-led digital therapeutic to aid smoking cessation among sexual and gender minority young adults

We are conducting this research study to learn how well a new investigational online program helps LGBTQ+ young adult smokers to quit or cut down on smoking. Participants will be randomly assigned (like a coin toss) to one of two online programs designed to help people quit smoking. If you agree to join the study, you will receive access to your online quit smoking program at no cost to you.
You will be asked to use an online quit smoking program for three months, and complete two 10–20-minute study surveys (at the time you join the study, and three months after joining the study).
Participants will receive up to $97 cash by mail based on the following:
- You will be mailed $2 cash in a reminder letter for the 3-month follow-up survey.
- You will be mailed a $60 cash after you complete the 3- month survey.
- If you complete the follow-up survey online within 24 hours of the first survey invitation being sent by email, we will give you an additional $10.
- If you are asked to confirm your smoking status at 3-months, we will give you an additional $25 after you send us your result and a picture of yourself completing the test.
Payment will be sent to you after you complete the 3-month study survey and the saliva testing (if asked).
You do not have to be in this study. You are free to say yes or no, or to drop out after joining. There is no penalty if you say no or if you change your mind later.
